CUPE 5101 Bargaining Update #1

CUPE 5101 BARGAINING UPDATE #1

September 29, 2026

The bargaining committee met with the Employer on September 23, 24 and 25 for these initial bargaining sessions, where proposals were exchanged and discussions began on key member priorities. We wanted to provide members with an update on the progress being made at the table. Both the Union and the Employer begun working through the issues that matter most to CUPE 5101 members. Both parties have engaged in lengthy discussions and have begun to identify areas of agreement and areas requiring further work.

As is often the case at the beginning of bargaining, a significant amount of time has been spent reviewing proposals, asking questions, clarifying language, and developing a clear understanding of each side’s priorities. We have covered a number of important housekeeping and language issues and have begun working through key concerns identified by members.

One of the issues discussed during these first sessions was workplace violence. We know this remains one of the most important concerns facing many of our members across the district. Initial discussions have taken place, with more detailed conversations expected as bargaining continues. Look for more information soon on how members can help support this important work.
